20 minThese little guys are half biscuit, half doughnut, and totally fun to make with kids.
A quick Bisquick dough gets cut with a doughnut cutter, then the rings get twisted into figure-8 bow knots while the holes become “buttons."
Everything bakes in about 10 minutes, and straight out of the oven each piece gets dunked in melted butter and rolled in cinnamon sugar.
Warm, buttery, and coated in spice, they’re gone before the pan has time to cool.
Kitchen Tips
- Work the dough gently and knead only 5 times; overworking it will make the doughnuts tough instead of tender
- Twist the rings quickly and confidently to get a clean figure-8 shape
- Dip in melted butter while still hot so the cinnamon sugar sticks to every surface
- These are best eaten warm, so time them to come out of the oven right when you’re ready to eat
Ingredients
Directions
Heat oven to 400℉ (200℃).
Mix together first six ingredients.
Beat vigorously. Gently smooth dough into a ball on lightly floured board.
Knead five times. Roll dough ½-inch thick.
Cut with floured doughnut cutter.
To make bow knots, hold opposite sides of each doughnut ring with fingers and twist to form a figure 8.
Place holes (buttons) and bow knots on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Immediately dip each button and bow knot into melted butter, then into cinnamon, coating all sides.
Serve warm. Makes 8 buttons and bow knots or 8 doughnuts.
