| 1/2 | cup | vegetable shortening | |
| 1 | cup | sugar | |
| 2 | large | eggs | |
| 1 | tablespoon | baking soda | |
| 2 | tablespoons | sour milk | |
| 2 | cups | flour, all-purpose | |
| 1 | teaspoon | salt | |
| 1 | teaspoon | vanilla extract | |
| 2 | cups | apples | finely chopped |
| 1/2 | cup | nutmeats |
Cream shortening, sugar, and eggs. Dissolve baking soda in sour milk. (1 tbsp. of vinegar plus 2 tsp. milk can be substituted in place of the sour milk). Add sour milk and baking soda mixture to the creamed mixture. Then add remaining ingredients and mix together.
Put in a large greased loaf pan and top with the following topping.
Mix together:
2 tbsp. butter 2 tbsp. flour 2 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. cinnamon Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

General:Dill is a tall, feathery annual, Anethum graveolens, in the parsley family. Both Dill Seed and Weed (dried leaves) come from the same plant....
Good recipie but it is much better to leave in in the fridge for two weeks before serving! It takes time for the pickling to get through the meat!
