Camu camu powder

About the ingredient camu camu powder. Including 1 recipes with camu camu powder.

What is camu camu powder?

Documentation of traditional camu camu uses is scarce. It is unlikely that in traditional Amazonian societies camu camu has ever been nutritionally relevant.

Camu camu is extremely acidic, and the flavour can only be appreciated in recipes requiring a blender, dilution in milk/water, and the addition of sugar.

Camu camu has an extraordinarily high vitamin C content (~ 2–3% of fresh weight) and the processed powder from the fruit pulp is sold in the west as a health food in loose powder or capsule form. In addition to the high vitamin C content, it contains the amino acids valine, leucine, and serine.

Camu camu is also rich in flavonoids, such as anthocyanins, flavonols and flavanols.

Flu Shot Juice

StarStarStarStarStar

This juice contains camu camu - a South American berry that contains the highest concentration of vitamin C on the planet. It is available in powder form, but if you can't find it, just add more lemon to the juice. Carrots are packed with beta-carotene, that turns into vitamin A in the body and can help enhance immunity. The ginger is anti-viral, the garlic and oregano are anti-bacterial, and the turmeric is antimicrobial (an agent that kills microorganisms or inhibits their growth). Meanwhile the celery and parsley are anti-inflammatory, and add a shot of blood-purifying chlorophyll as well.
