This frozen turtle pie is a no-bake dessert built on a crushed Oreo cookie crust and layered with vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, chocolate ice cream, more caramel, and chopped nuts. It’s the candy turtle concept turned into a sliceable frozen pie with zero oven time.

The Oreo crust comes together in minutes. Crush the cookies fine, mix with melted butter, and press into the pie pan. No baking needed since it firms up in the freezer and holds its shape when sliced. A food processor makes quick work of the cookies, but a zip-top bag and a rolling pin work just as well.

Layering is the key to a clean, impressive cross-section. Let the ice cream soften just enough to spread without melting completely. If it gets too runny, the layers bleed into each other and you lose that striped look. A full six hours in the freezer sets everything solid for clean slicing.

Kitchen Tips

  • Let the ice cream sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes before spreading so it’s workable but not soupy
  • Drizzle the caramel sauce in an even layer. Thick globs freeze hard and make cutting difficult
  • Dip your knife in hot water between slices for the cleanest cuts
  • Pull the pie out of the freezer five minutes before serving so it’s firm but scoopable

Variations

  • Use pecans for the most authentic turtle candy flavor
  • Drizzle hot fudge sauce over slices at serving for extra chocolate
  • Swap the Oreo crust for a graham cracker crust for a lighter base
