This sweet and sour fried fish is a fast weeknight dinner where crispy fish meets a bright, tangy sauce spiked with vinegar and ketchup.

Fish fillets get cut into bite-sized cubes and pan-fried in a sprayed skillet until golden. Meanwhile, a simple sauce simmers with grated carrots, diced tomatoes, and green peppers.

The whole thing comes together in about 40 minutes, delivering that classic sweet-sour balance over tender fish that falls apart at the touch of a fork.

Kitchen Tips

  • Use firm white fish like cod, halibut, or tilapia
  • Cut fish into uniform 1-inch cubes for even cooking
  • Don’t overcook the vegetables; they should still have texture
  • Serve over rice to soak up the sauce
