Sulfuric Acid Swig is a fizzy Halloween drink with lemonade, grapefruit juice, lemon sherbet, and club soda. Topped with powdered drink mix for a toxic-looking, bubbling effect kids love.

This Halloween drink looks like something from a mad scientist’s lab but tastes like a tart, fizzy lemon float. Lemonade concentrate, fresh lemon juice, and grapefruit juice make a sour citrus base that gets poured over scoops of lemon sherbet, then topped with cold club soda for maximum fizz.

The sherbet reacts with the club soda the moment they meet, foaming and bubbling over the top of the glass in a way that looks genuinely eerie. That fizzing show is half the fun and why this works so well as a Halloween party drink.

The final touch is a pinch of lemon or lime powdered drink mix sprinkled on top right before serving. It floats on the foam and slowly dissolves in a neon streak, giving each glass that toxic, “sulfuric acid” look.

Kitchen Tips

  • Use partially thawed lemonade concentrate, not fully thawed. It keeps the drink colder longer and extends the fizzy sherbet reaction.
  • Fill glasses only halfway with the citrus mixture before adding sherbet. The club soda causes serious foam and you need headroom.
  • Serve immediately after adding the club soda. The fizz dies fast and without it, this is just lemonade with melted sherbet.
  • Use tall, clear glasses so the bubbling and color are visible. The visual effect is the whole point.

Variations

  • Use lime sherbet instead of lemon for a greener, more “toxic” appearance.
  • Add a few drops of green food coloring to the citrus base for an even spookier look.
  • Swap club soda for lemon-lime soda if you want it sweeter for younger kids.

In a large pitcher, mix together the lemonade concentrate, lemon juice and grapefruit.

Add to this the amount of water required on the lemonade can.

Pour the liquid into tall glasses, filling them halfway, and add a scoop of lemon sherbet to each.

Just before serving, sprinkle the top of each glass with a pinch of lemon or lime-flavored powdered drink mix.

Makes for a totally toxic-looking treat!
