| 1/2 | cup | butter | or margarine |
| 1/2 | cup | vegetable shortening | |
| 1/2 | cup | brown sugar | |
| 2 | cups | flour, all-purpose | |
| 1/2 | teaspoon | salt | |
| 1 | teaspoon | vanilla extract | |
| 2 | each | egg whites | beaten slightly |
| 1/4 | cup | walnuts | crushed |
| 1/4 | cup | fruit jam |
Combine butter, shortening, brown sugar, flour, salt, and vanilla.
Roll into 1 inch balls.
Roll balls in egg whites and then roll in crushed walnuts.
Put finger indention in center.
Fill with jam. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes.
