An Italian twist on classic, vegetarian poutine that uses parmesan cheese, chives, garlic and Marinara sauce. What is poutine? Crispy fries with cheese curds and gravy.

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 475℉ (246℃) F or follow directions for preparing frozen french fries. Arrange french fries on a baking sheet in a single layer and bake for 15 minutes or according to package directions. Heat the marinara sauce over low heat.

  2. About 5 minutes before the French fries are finished cooking, remove from the oven and place into a large bowl. Toss the fries with the olive oil until lightly coated, sprinkle with garlic seasoning, minced chives (or minced scallions), and the grated Parmesan cheese. Transfer the fries back onto the baking tray and back into the oven to finish cooking for about 5 more minutes or until golden and crispy.

  3. Serve immediately with the Marinara sauce spooned over the fries (or if desired, on the side).

What is poutine?

Classic Quebec poutine is crispy French fries, cheese curds, and gravy. The dish originated in Quebec, Canada and became an after pub favorite. Since then there have many variations of poutine across Canada and now abroad. The main elements, French fries + cheese + sauce prevail.
