Directions

Toss pears with lemon juice. Set aside.

In a large saucepan, combine water, juice, and honey. Add vanilla and cinnamon. Stir over medium heat until honey is dissolved. If desired, replace 2 tablespoon of honey with brown sugar.

Add pears. Cover mixture with a circle of parchment paper cut to fit the pan. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until the pears are just tender when pierced with a fork, about 15 minutes.

Use a slotted spoon to remove the pears from poaching liquid. Boil liquid in pan until it becomes thickened and syrupy, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and cool. Return pears to syrup and refrigerate up to 24 hours before serving

Anthony

The directions state to add water, however there is no measurement in the list of ingredients. How much water do you use?

anonymous

My assumption is to fill pot with water until pears are completely covered by liquid while poaching.
