177 ml buttermilk

Directions

Add the whole wheat flour to a food processor and process for 2 minutes.

Add the remaining flour, baking powder, salt and sage then pulse to combine.

With the processor running drop in the cold butter in little pieces until coarse crumbs form. Transfer to a large bowl.

Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and add the buttermilk. Mix until just holding together, do not over mix.

Turn out onto wax paper, roll out and cut or shape into desired shapes. Try to handle the mixture as little as possible.

Brush tops with an egg wash if desired.

Bake in a preheated 400 degree F oven for 12 to 15 minutes.
