One of our favorite chicken crock pot recipes. An easy slow cooker chicken recipe with ample sweet and sour sauce and a variety of textures that everyone loves.

237 ml chicken broth

231.2 ml/g pineapple

59 ml cornstarch

3E+1 ml soy sauce, tamari
or to taste

15 ml vinegar

Directions

Season chicken with salt and pepper and place in crock pot or slow cooker. Combine the ginger, garlic, chicken broth and the syrup from the pineapple. Cut pineapple slices into fourths. Arrange pineapple and sliced water chestnuts over chicken.

Pour ginger sauce over all. Cover and cook on low 3 to 4 hours, or until tender. Add green onions. Dissolve cornstarch in soy sauce and vinegar. Stir into the pot.

Cover and cook on high 10 to 15 minutes or until slightly thickened.

Serve topped with crisp Chinese noodles, optional, or rice.

Looks yummy but way too high in sodium and calories for us!

Hi, thanks for your comment. I just checked the recipe, noticed the serving size should be 8 instead of 4. Now the calories and sodium look much more reasonable. You can always add less salt or soy sauce than the recipe calls for. Hope you will enjoy it :)

We also use low-sodium soy sauce, but the nutrition facts show sodium levels when using regular soy sauce.
