The most recognized Greek cheese, made from cow's milk, goat's milk or ewe's milk. It is cut into large slices, salted and then packed in a salty whey or brine. it is often crumbled over salads such as Greek salad or cut into cubes and served as a snack with olives and bread.
Feta cheese delivers a salty burst of flavor. Imported Greek varieties of feta have significantly more flavor than American produced feta cheese and it can be worth the extra expense to gain heaps more flavor. Feta can also be found mixed with spinach such as in spanikopita or on top of pizzas or in Greek style tarts.
