Favourite Lasagna

Great comfort food. Its simplicity makes it a dish loved by many. The ingredient that makes this recipe special is the cottage cheese, which is not traditionally used in lasagna.

Directions

  1. In a large skillet, over medium heat, cook beef until brown and drain.
  2. In another skilled, cooked chopped onion until translucent.
  3. Combine beef and onion in a large saucepan with: Water crushed tomatoes tomato paste oregano garlic powder salt pepper sugar
  4. Cover sauce over medium heat until it comes to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 45 min to an hour. (do not skip this step! trust me!)
  5. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 10 minutes; drain.
  6. Preheat oven to 350℉ (180℃).
  7. While sauce is simmering, blend cottage cheese, parmesan, and egg. I like to blend it until its smooth so you dont see any cheese curds.
  8. Spread 1 cup sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 in. baking dish . Cover sauce with 3 noodles. Use ¼ of the cottage cheese mixture and spread. Note: I don't like using all of the cottage cheese. Same with sauce (⅓). And ⅓ mozzarella.
  9. Place another layer of noodles and repeat.
  10. Top with remaining 3 layer of noodles and repeat, but set aside remaining mozzarella.
  11. Bake in oven for 30 minutes. Sprinkle remaining mozzarella on top and bake for 15 minutes more, until golden and bubbly.
