1 hrsYour four-legged family member deserves a home-cooked meal too, and this hearty stew is the way to do it.
Chicken simmers with bay leaf, oregano, and thyme until tender, then sausage links, diced potatoes, carrots, onions, and Brussels sprouts join the pot for a nutrient-packed one-pot meal.
The chicken gets boned and arranged with the vegetables over your dog’s regular kibble, then the rich cooking stock gets spooned over everything as gravy.
Watch that tail go wild.
Important Notes
- Remove the bay leaf before serving. Bay leaves are not safe for dogs to ingest.
- Use plain sausage with no garlic or onion seasoning if possible. While small amounts of cooked onion are in this recipe, some dogs may be sensitive. Consult your vet if you have concerns.
- Let the stew cool to room temperature before serving. Dogs can burn their mouths on hot food just like we can.
- This makes a large batch that stores well in the fridge for 3 to 4 days or can be portioned and frozen.
