suggest servings
| 6 | large | eggs | |
| 3/4 | cup | vegetable shortening | |
| 1 1/2 | cups | sugar | |
| 4 | teaspoons | vanilla extract | or anisette |
| 6 | cups | flour, all-purpose | |
| 6 | teaspoons | baking powder |
With electric mixer beat crisco and sugar untill light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time and continue to beat until fluffy.
Add vanilla and beat well.
Add flour and baking powder.
Mix well and turn onto floured board.
Roll dough into 'S' shapes.
Brush tops with egg yolk and bake at 350 degress for 15 minutes.
You can glaze these with confectioners sugar if desired.
I Remember my Grandmother and Mother making these cookies.Somewhere along the line I lost the recipe.I have tried to find a recipe with "that"taste I remember so well.Then I found "this"one. and for a moment it not only brought back my childhood but my Mother and Grandmother

This was so yummy and I don't even care for cream of mushroom soup. The pork ends up being so tender. The casserole almost tastes like a stew without all of the liquid.
