| 2 | cups | rolled oats | |
| 2 | cups | flour, all-purpose | |
| 1 | cup | vegetable shortening | |
| 1 | cup | brown sugar | |
| 1/2 | teaspoon | salt | |
| 1 | teaspoon | baking soda | |
| 1/2 | cup | sour milk |
Mix the first five ingredients together thoroughly. Dissolve soda in the sour milk, add to other ingredients and mix well. Put half mixture in pan and cover with date filling. Put rest of mixture on top and press down. Bake in 350 oven for 25 min.
Date Filling: 1/2 cup of dates chopped, 1/2 cup brown sugar, one tb. cornstarch, 1 cup of hot water. Cook till thick stirring constantly.
Fantastic,healthy snack,not too sweet but
just sweet enough to satisfy the taste buds.
Very good for children(Dad's too).

these tacos taste just like the real thing. I did make one little change, I use Champagne instead of beer only because I had that left over from another recipe that I made. But it tasted GREAT
