| 3 | large | eggs | |
| 1 | teaspoon | vanilla extract | |
| 1 | teaspoon | baking powder | |
| 1 | cup | sugar | |
| 1 | cup | dates | |
| 1 | cup | flour, all-purpose |
Beat eggs and sugar, add baking powder, vanilla, and flour. Add the dates last and mix thoroughly. Batter will be thick. Pour into a greased 8x8 pan and bake at 350 for 25 to 30 minutes. When cooled sprinkle icing sugar over the top and rub in until completely coated with icing sugar.
Note: Can be doubled and baked in a 9x13 pan. Takes about 10-15 minutes longer.
Or use candied fruit that is available at Xmas in place of the dates.
To make it real fancy, use a paper doily before sprinkling the icing sugar on top.

The term "Burgundy", in the minds of the American masses, has come to denote generic red wine. Mediocre restaurants often use the term to...
This recipe definitely needs some "tweaking", but it still tasted pretty good. I added a little soy sauce & white wine & sherry.
