| 1/4 | cup | bread flour | (10 1/2 oz) |
| 1 | tablespoon | milk, skim, (non fat) powder | dry milk, (1/5 oz) |
| 1 | teaspoon | salt | (1/5 oz) |
| 1 | tablespoon | butter | (2/5 oz) |
| 2 | tablespoons | sugar | (3/5 oz) |
| 7/8 | cups | water | (7 fl.oz) |
| 1 | teaspoon | yeast, active dry | (1/10 oz) |
Timer OR Bake (Rapid) mode may be used. Place ingredient in breakmaker as per operating instructions. Press start.
1/4 cup does not equal 10 1/2 oz. It is closer to 1 1/4 cup. 1/4 cup is equal to 2 oz only. Hence the problem describe in a previous review. Can anyone confirm that this makes sense based on the other ingredients?

This recipe would be fine, going by the ingredient weights given (as professionals do). But in volume measurements, it's absolutely wrong. No way 1/4 cup of flour = 10.5 oz!!! If someone just followed the recipe by volume measurements, they'd get a frothy foam sludge kind of like a sourdough starter, but definitely not White Bread.

i followed the recipe exactly. after looking at numerous other bread recipes, it appears as though this one, with a quarter cup of flour, has a disproportionate amount of flour--like 1/12th the amount of other recipes. i got a thin layer of nasty, liquidy mush. ugh.

Amazing recipe! I love this...reminds me of my grandma's cookies. People devour these. I use a buttercream frosting, homemade to frost them. I found the recipe on the back of the confectioners sugar bag. 10 stars...this recipe is a keeper!
