| 1 | cup | cornmeal | |
| 1/2 | cup | flour, all-purpose | |
| 3 | teaspoons | baking powder | |
| 3 | tablespoons | sugar | |
| 1/2 | teaspoon | salt | (optional) |
| 1/3 | cup | applesauce | unsweetened |
| 3/4 | cup | milk, skim | |
| 2 | each | egg whites |
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Grease 9" glass pyrex pan and put in oven to preheat. Mix all ingredients, put batter into heated pan and bake for 20 mins.
To the Amazing Cornbread author. Could you please confirm the amount of baking powder is actually 3 tablespoons and not 3 teaspoons? Many thanks

Yes, this is amazing cornbread. Very easy to make and very delicious to eat. I think it may be the apple sauce, but I did also added whole eggs instead of just the whites, and I used whole milk.
I am going to be making this cornbread often.
