Directions

Gather together these four ingredients we need.
Add the flour, baking powder and salt in a fine sieve over a large bowl...

Sift the flour, baking powder and salt two to three times into a large bowl.

Sift them all together...
Stir well with a wooden spoon...

Cut in the shortening with a pastry cutter or your fingers until the flour mixture looks like fine crumbs.

Add butter into the flour mixture...
Until well mixed, Homemade Hearty Healthy Bisquick Mix appears.

Storage

When using shelf-stable shortening: Store the bisquick mix in a well-sealed, air-tight container in a cool place, and it lasts several months.

If using butter: Store the baking mix in a well-sealed, air-tight container in the refrigerator and use within one week.
