Ingredients

40 grams fat not quite 3 tbsp
1 each onion chopped
2-3 slices bread leftover, cut into cubes
3/4 litres water or beef broth, 3 cups plus 3 tablespoons
1 x salt
1 x black pepper
1 x marjoram
1 x thyme
1 x caraway seeds
1 tablespoon butter

Directions

Brown the onion in the fat until golden brown, then add thyme and marjoram.

Stir in the bread cubes, add water (or broth) and bring to a boil.

After a few minutes, add salt and pepper to taste.

Serve with a small slice of bread in the hot soup.

Boiled Beef

This boiled beef recipe was just wonderful - easy to make and delicious to eat! I highly recommend it. A perfect winter meal. I added a single fat leek, washed and shredded thickly lengthwise. What a flavorful broth!
