50 minHalf brownie, half cookie bar, all crowd-pleaser. These chocolate walnut triangles bake up in a single 8-inch pan, get slathered with a creamy vanilla frosting, and then sliced into smart little triangles that look like you fussed way more than you did.
The batter is rich with melted unsweetened chocolate and loaded with finely chopped walnuts. Eggs get beaten for a full five minutes until light and fluffy, which gives the bars their signature texture: dense but not heavy, chewy without being gummy.
They yield 32 cookies from one small pan, making them ideal for holiday platters and potlucks.
Kitchen Tips
- Beat the eggs the full 5 minutes. This is what gives the bars their lift and keeps them from being too dense.
- Line the pan with parchment for easy removal. Grease the parchment too.
- Let the bars cool completely before frosting and cutting. Warm bars plus frosting equals a melty mess.
- For cleaner triangle cuts, dip your knife in hot water and wipe between slices.
