Teriyaki Beef Kabobs
Submitted by dkdrenning
Sirloin beef kabobs marinated in soy sauce, sherry, honey and ginger, then broiled with pineapple chunks, mushrooms and green onions. A glossy, sweet-savory skewer dinner the whole family will love.
These kabobs bring the full teriyaki experience on a stick.
Sirloin steak cubes soak for five hours in a rich marinade of soy sauce, dry sherry, honey, ginger and garlic powder until they’re deeply seasoned all the way through.
The marinade then gets thickened with cornstarch into a glossy basting sauce that coats everything it touches.
Beef goes on its own skewers, while pineapple chunks, fresh mushrooms and green onion pieces get their own separate sticks so each element cooks to its own ideal doneness.
Serve them plated together and let that sticky, caramelized sauce tie everything into one gorgeous, flavor-packed meal.
Pro Tips
- Keep the beef and veggie skewers separate. Beef needs longer under the broiler than pineapple and mushrooms, and separate skewers prevent overcooking the vegetables.
- Thicken the marinade into a sauce by cooking it with cornstarch before brushing. Raw marinade slides off, but the thickened version clings and caramelizes.
- Marinate a full 5 hours and turn the beef 2 to 3 times for even flavor penetration.
- If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes before threading to prevent them from catching fire under the broiler.
