10 minThis is the cup of tea that makes people stop mid-sip and ask, “What IS that?"
Regular black tea gets transformed with just a teaspoon of almond extract, a touch of vanilla, freshly grated lemon zest, and a squeeze of lemon juice.
The result is warm, fragrant, and gently sweet with a marzipan-like undertone that’s completely irresistible.
It steeps in five minutes, stirs together in seconds, and fills the whole kitchen with the most gorgeous aroma.
Kitchen Tips
- Use a light hand with the almond extract. A teaspoon is plenty. More than that and it goes from elegant to overpowering.
- Scald your teapot with boiling water first. This keeps the brewing temperature steady and gives you a stronger, more flavorful steep.
- Drop a fresh mint leaf into each cup before pouring for a cool, herbal contrast that lifts the whole drink.
Variations
- Swap the sugar for a quarter cup of honey for a more floral, rounded sweetness.
- Serve it iced over plenty of ice for a refreshing summer version that’s equally stunning cold.
- Use Earl Grey bags instead of regular black tea for a bergamot-almond combination that’s incredibly sophisticated.
