Sweet Marie bars are the ultimate no-bake treat. Corn syrup, brown sugar, and peanut butter get heated until bubbly, then stirred into crisp rice cereal and pressed into a pan.
Once cooled, a layer of chocolate icing goes on top, and you’ve got yourself a chewy, crunchy, peanut-buttery square that disappears faster than you can cut it.
Four ingredients. Thirty minutes. A lifetime of cravings.
Pro Tips
- Stir constantly while heating the peanut butter mixture. It can scorch on the bottom quickly
- Press the mixture firmly into the pan with the back of a greased spoon or a sheet of wax paper so the bars hold together when sliced
- Let the chocolate icing set completely before cutting or you’ll end up with a smeared, messy (but still delicious) situation
- Store covered at room temperature. They stay chewy for 3 to 4 days if they last that long
