| 3 | cups | flour, all-purpose | |
| 1 1/2 | cups | sugar | |
| 2 | teaspoons | baking powder | |
| 1 | pinch | salt | |
| 1 | cup | butter | |
| 2 | large | eggs | beaten |
| 1 | teaspoon | vanilla extract |
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Sift dry ingredients together.
Work butter into the dry mixture with a pastry cutter until it becomes coarse grains.
Add eggs and vanilla and mix until blended.
You can use an electric mixer at this point, but it's better if done by hand.
Roll out dough to about 1/8 inch thick and cut with cookie cutter.
Space cookies 2 inches apart on baking sheets.
Bake 8-10 minutes and cool on racks.
Cool completely before frosting.
These are truly a great sugar cookie. I had decorated them and everyone at the party that they were delicious.
