10 minThis is the kind of blender cocktail you make for a crowd, not just one glass. A full quart of rum meets frozen strawberries, sweetened lime juice, and lemon-lime soda, all blitzed with ice into a thick, slushy pour that’s dangerously drinkable.
The frozen strawberries do double duty as both the fruit flavor and part of the ice, giving you a thicker, more intensely berry-forward daiquiri than fresh berries with extra ice would. The lemon-lime soda adds fizz and sweetness that lightens the drink so it doesn’t taste like straight rum and fruit puree.
Blend until completely smooth and pour into chilled glasses. These go down easy, so pace yourself.
Pro Tips
- Use frozen strawberries straight from the freezer, not thawed. They give the drink its slushy texture
- Blend in batches if your blender isn’t large enough for the full recipe. Overloading leads to an uneven blend with chunks
- Add the ice gradually until you hit your preferred thickness. Too much and it gets watery as it melts
- Serve immediately. These lose their slushy texture within minutes once poured
Variations
- Use frozen mango or peach instead of strawberries for a tropical twist
- Make it a virgin daiquiri by replacing the rum with extra lemon-lime soda
- Add a splash of triple sec or Cointreau for an orange-citrus layer
