| 8 | ounces | dates | chopped, pitted |
| 1/2 | cup | sugar | |
| 1 | each | egg | slightly beaten |
| 1/2 | cup | coconut | |
| 4 | tablespoons | butter | |
| 1 | dash | salt | |
| 1 1/2 | cups | crisp rice cereal | |
| 1/2 | cup | nuts | chopped |
| 1 | teaspoon | vanilla extract | |
| 3 | ounces | sugar crystals | red |
| 1 | x | frosting | green decorator's |
In a skillet combine dates, sugar, egg, coconut, butter and salt.
Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture bubbles and thickens, about 5-6 minutes.
Remove from heat and add Rice Krispies, nuts and vanilla.
Cool 10 minutes.
Use 1 level tablespoon or less for each cookie.
Moisten fingers and form into strawberry shape.
Roll each cookie in red sugar, trim stem with green frosting.
