55 minIf you grew up with Chicken Divan at family potlucks, this shrimp version is going to feel like a warm hug from the past.
Broccoli lines the bottom of the dish, topped with seasoned shrimp, then blanketed in a creamy sauce made from cream of celery soup, mayonnaise, lemon juice, and shredded cheese. A layer of buttered crumbs on top bakes to a golden crunch that shatters with every forkful.
It’s the kind of casserole that gets requested at every gathering.
Kitchen Tips
- Thaw and drain the broccoli well so the casserole doesn’t get watery on the bottom
- Cornflake crumbs give the crispiest topping, but fresh breadcrumbs tossed in melted butter work beautifully too
- Don’t skip the lemon juice in the sauce; that little hit of acid cuts through the richness and keeps everything tasting bright
- Let the casserole rest 5 minutes after baking so the sauce thickens and holds together when you serve
