40 minThis is the dish that shows up at every elegant buffet and steals the show without breaking a sweat. Layers of canned fruits, from pineapple chunks to sliced peaches, apricots, cherries, and spiced apple rings, all baked under a buttery brown sugar and sherry sauce that turns golden and bubbly.
The sauce is simple: butter, flour, brown sugar, and sherry cooked until thick, then poured over the layered fruit before baking. Thirty minutes in the oven and it all melds together into something warm, glossy, and irresistible.
It serves 20 with minimal effort, making it the perfect dish for holiday buffets, brunch spreads, and dinner parties where you need to impress without spending hours in the kitchen.
Kitchen Tips
- Drain the canned fruits thoroughly so excess juice doesn’t thin out the sauce
- Cook the butter-flour-sherry sauce until it’s genuinely thick before pouring it over the fruit
- Serve warm alongside ham, turkey, or pork as an elegant side, or on its own as a light dessert
- This can be assembled ahead and refrigerated; just add 10 extra minutes to the baking time
