| 12 | cups | puffed wheat cereal | |
| 2 | cups | brown sugar | packed |
| 1 | cup | corn syrup | |
| 2 | tablespoons | butter | |
| 1 | cup | evaporated milk | |
| 1/3 | cup | sugar |
Place cereal in a large bowl; set aside.
In a heavy saucepan, bring brown sugar and corn syrup to a boil.
Add butter.
Combine evaporated milk and sugar; add to boiling mixture; add to a boiling mixture and continue cooking until a soft ball forms when liquid is dropped into cold water (240øF on a candy thermometer).
Pour over cereal and stir to coat.
Shape into 2-inch balls.

Wonderful recipe! I am taking this to a cookie exchange. I used sweetened chocolate in the frosting as the recipe didn't indicate unsweetened. They turned out great! Even my kids who hate coconut liked them, the coconut dissolved and the inside was chewy!
