| 1/4 | cup | butter | or margarine |
| 2 | tablespoons | vegetable oil | olive or vegetable |
| 1 | each | garlic | clove, minced |
| 3 | tablespoons | parmesan, parmigiano-reggiano cheese, grated | grated |
| 2 | tablespoons | chives | freah, chopped |
| 1 | teaspoon | prepared mustard | dijon |
| 1 | each | bread, french | loaf, sliced |
Melt butter in a saucepan. Add oil and garlic; sauté until garlic is tender. Remove from the heat; stir in parmesan, chives and mustard. Cool for 5 minutes or until creamy. Spread on one side of each slice of bread. Place with buttered side up on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 6-8 minutes or broil servings.
