Dragon’s Blood Punch with a frozen hand ice mold for Halloween. Apple juice, cranberry juice, and ginger ale create a blood-red punch with a creepy ice hand centerpiece.

This Halloween punch is 90% showmanship and it knows it. A frozen hand made from a rubber glove floats in a bowl of blood-red punch, and if a finger snaps off during unmolding? Even better. That’s the whole vibe.

The punch itself is simple: equal parts apple juice, cranberry juice, and ginger ale. The cranberry gives it that deep red color, the apple adds sweetness, and the ginger ale brings fizz. No cooking, no muddling, just mix and chill.

The hand mold takes planning. Fill a clean rubber glove with water, tie it off, and freeze it for a full day or two. Setting the frozen hand upright in a coffee can with water creates a base so it stands in the punch bowl instead of bobbing around on its side.

A few drops of red food coloring dripped onto the fingertips right before serving is the finishing touch that gets the screams.

Pro Tips

  • Use a new, food-safe rubber glove. Latex gloves from the kitchen or medical supply section work best.
  • Freeze the hand at least 24 hours. Rushing it means a half-frozen, floppy hand that melts too fast.
  • Add the ginger ale last, right before serving, to keep the fizz alive.
  • Make the punch in two batches: half in the bowl first, then the hand, then top off. This keeps the hand centered.

Variations

  • Adult version: Replace the ginger ale with prosecco or champagne for a boozy Halloween cocktail punch.
  • Green slime punch: Use lime sherbet and lemon-lime soda instead for a toxic-green version.

Directions

To make the hand, fill a new rubber glove with water.

Tie at the wrist with string and freeze one or two days.

Unmold.

Sometimes a finger will fall off when unmolding, this only adds to the goulish effect.

To make a base for the hand, fill a one-pound coffee can about ⅓ full with water.

Insert the hand and freeze until firm.

To make the punch: Mix equal parts of apple and cranberry juice and ginger ale.

Refrigerate.

When ready to serve, place half the mixture in the punch bowl.

Insert hand ice mold in the center.

Fill bowl with remaining punch.

For added effect place a few drops of red food colouring on the fingers before serving.
