These goofy little marshmallow creatures are the kind of no-bake treat that kids go wild for. Marshmallows get smeared with peanut butter, rolled in green-tinted coconut for the “hair," and finished with red hot cinnamon candies pressed in as eyes. The whole thing takes about 10 minutes and requires absolutely no heat.

The peanut butter does double duty here as both the flavor and the glue that holds the coconut in place. Spread it thick enough that the shredded coconut sticks on contact.

These are built for Halloween parties, classroom snacks, or any time you need a fun project that little hands can help with. Messy? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely.

Pro Tips

  • Tint the coconut by tossing it in a zip-top bag with a drop or two of green food coloring. Seal and shake until evenly colored.
  • Use large marshmallows for easier handling. Mini marshmallows are too small for little fingers to work with.
  • Press the cinnamon candy eyes in firmly so they don’t pop off.
  • Set finished heads on wax paper to keep them from sticking to the plate.
