Christopsomo, or “Christ’s bread," is a traditional Greek holiday loaf that fills the house with the warm, floral scent of cardamom as it bakes. This bread machine version makes the process nearly effortless: load the ingredients, press start, and let the machine handle the kneading and rising.

Ground cardamom is the signature spice that sets Greek Christmas bread apart from other holiday loaves. It’s fragrant without being overwhelming, adding a sweet, almost citrusy warmth that pairs with the golden raisins and chopped walnuts folded through the dough.
