Three ingredients, one blender, one hour in the freezer. That’s it. Ice cream, fresh fruit, and ice cubes get blended together and frozen into a slushy, creamy treat that kids go wild for.

Use whatever fruit you have on hand: blueberries, strawberries, cantaloupe, bananas, or a mix. Frozen fruit works too and makes the blend thicker right out of the blender.

The one-hour freeze time is important. Any longer and the mixture freezes solid and you’ll need to let it thaw before you can scoop it. At one hour, it’s the consistency of soft-serve: scoopable, slushy, and cold.

Pro Tips

  • Blend until completely smooth. Chunks of ice or fruit don’t freeze well and create icy pockets.
  • Set a timer for the freezer. It’s easy to forget about this and end up with a brick.
  • Use fruit-flavored ice cream instead of vanilla to intensify the fruit flavor.
