Frozen Ho Ho dessert builds an ice cream cake from snack-aisle cakes lining the pan, two ice cream flavors, crushed Oreos, hot fudge, and Cool Whip. No bake, no mixer, all freezer.

Pure no-bake freezer magic built entirely from the snack aisle. This frozen dessert uses Ho Ho cakes cut in half to line the sides and bottom of a 9×13 pan like a chocolate log cabin, then gets packed with two layers of ice cream divided by a crunchy Oreo middle.

Two different ice cream flavors are the move. Mint and fudge, vanilla and cookies-and-cream, whatever lives in the freezer. The contrast is what makes each slice taste like three desserts at once.

Hot fudge goes on after the second ice cream layer freezes hard, followed by a fluffy Cool Whip top and shaved chocolate. Freeze between every layer so you don’t end up with a melty landslide when you cut it.

Total assembly is 30 minutes, no oven required. Perfect for summer cookouts, kid birthdays, or any time you need to feed a crowd without turning on the stove.

Kitchen Tips

  • Let each ice cream layer soften on the counter for 10 minutes before spreading. Straight-from-the-freezer ice cream tears up the Ho Ho walls.
  • Freeze each layer for at least an hour before adding the next. Shortcut this and the layers blur into muddy chocolate soup.
  • Warm the hot fudge only slightly, pouring room-temperature or cool is easier than hot (which melts the ice cream underneath).
  • Cut with a knife dipped in hot water and wiped dry between slices for clean layer lines.

Variations

  • Swap Ho Hos for Swiss Cake Rolls or sliced jelly roll cake for a different brand lane.
  • Use peanut butter cups instead of Oreos in the middle layer for a Reese’s-style version.
  • Drizzle caramel alongside the hot fudge for a turtle-sundae flavor profile.
