A thick, frosty smoothie made with peaches, banana, vanilla yogurt, and a boost of wheat germ for added fiber and protein. Blends up in about a minute and tastes like a milkshake that’s actually good for you.

Wheat germ is the secret ingredient that turns a basic fruit smoothie into something more substantial. It adds a slightly nutty, toasty flavor that blends right into the fruit without tasting health-food-y. You won’t notice the texture, but you’ll notice that this smoothie keeps you full longer than one made with just fruit and yogurt.

Orange juice thins the blend just enough to make it pourable while adding another layer of citrus sweetness. Ice cubes make it thick and frosty instead of room-temperature and thin.

Kitchen Tips

  • Use frozen peaches or banana chunks for an even thicker, colder smoothie without needing as much ice.
  • Blend the yogurt and liquid first, then add the fruit and ice. This prevents chunks from getting stuck under the blades.
  • Serve immediately. Smoothies separate and get watery fast as the ice melts.
  • Sprinkle wheat germ on top as a garnish for a nice crunchy contrast.

Variations

  • Swap peaches for strawberries or mangoes for a different fruit flavor.
  • Use Greek yogurt instead of low-fat for a thicker, higher-protein smoothie.
  • Add a tablespoon of honey or a handful of spinach for extra sweetness or a hidden veggie boost.
