1 hrsThis is what you make when you want apple pie flavor without the fuss of pastry.
Sliced apples get layered in a baking dish with cinnamon sugar sprinkled between, then you spoon a simple cake batter over the top. As it bakes, the batter spreads and settles around the apples, creating a tender, cake-like topping with pockets of sweet, spiced fruit underneath.
Serve it warm with vanilla ice cream melting into the cinnamon-scented apples.
Kitchen Tips
- Apple variety matters: Use firm baking apples like Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Braeburn that hold their shape.
- Spread the batter: It will be thick and won’t spread easily, but don’t worry. It settles as it bakes.
- Serve it warm: This cake is at its absolute best eaten warm from the oven when the apples are tender and the topping is soft.
- Leftovers: Reheat individual portions in the microwave for 20-30 seconds to bring back that just-baked warmth.

Stir in flour and baking powder and spoon over apples, spreading it as best as you can.
Bake 30 minutes.
Best served warm, with vanilla ice cream.

i was looking for this recipi for EVER !!! it realy helped :)
Hi,
I am baking your receipe as I write. But, I find it strange that you have no liquid in the receipe.
My mom is a great baker and she told me to add some milk, like 1/3 of a cup.
It seems better that way!
We we will see soon enough
Hi Margarete,
I am looking at this recipe now, and it does sound that needs some liquid, like you mentioned milk. I checked some other similar recipes, but they are all slightly different, some use milk and some don't; hope it works as recipe says:)
