Ingredients

1/2 each cabbage course sliced
1 each potatoes peeled, diced
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon caraway seeds
1 each onion cut 1 inch slices
1 1/2 pound polish sausage cut 1 inch pieces
14 ounces chicken broth

Directions

Place sliced cabbage in crockpot. Toss with diced potato, salt and caraway seed. Add sliced onion and Polish sausage. Pour chicken broth over all; stir lightly. Cover and cook on Low setting for 8 to 10 hours (on HIGH setting for 2 to 4 hours).

This dish is delicious served with mustard, horseradish and boiled new potatoes. Makes 4 servings (about 3 1/2 quarts).

iF YOU ARE OF POLISH DECENT THIS DISH WOULD BE OK MOST POLISH COOKS WOULD NOT USE CHICKEN STOCK. MY MOTHER HAD HER OWN SECRET STOCK. THE WATER SAVED AFTER COOKING POLISH SMOKED SAUSAGE. TRY IT. IT WILL HAVE A DIFFERENT TASTE. ADD DRIED POLISH MUSHROOMS AND 1 LBS. OF SAURKRAUT FOR A DIFFERENT TASTE, EASTERN EUROPEAN FLAVOR.
