Chicken breasts go into a baking dish, get blanketed with Swiss cheese, then covered in cream of chicken soup thinned with a little milk. A crunchy layer of crushed herb stuffing mix tossed in melted butter goes on top.
That’s it. Five ingredients. Into the oven it goes. Out comes a bubbling casserole with a golden, crunchy top and tender chicken swimming in a cheesy, creamy sauce underneath.
Kitchen Tips
- Pound the chicken breasts to even thickness so they all cook through at the same rate. Nobody wants one overdone breast and one raw one.
- Crush the stuffing mix lightly so you get a mix of textures on top, not just fine crumbs.
- Don’t skip the butter on the stuffing. It’s what makes the topping crisp and golden instead of dry and dusty.
