20 minA fool is one of the simplest desserts in the British tradition, and this cranberry version might be the easiest one you’ll ever make.
Jellied cranberry sauce gets whisked with grated orange zest and a touch of almond extract, then folded into billowy whipped cream.
That’s it. Four ingredients, no cooking, no baking, 20 minutes tops.
Spooned into parfait glasses and chilled until set, it’s a gorgeous layered dessert with a creamy tang and a hint of almond that feels way more sophisticated than the effort involved.
Bonus: serve it at room temperature and it doubles as a knockout fruit dip.
Kitchen Tips
- Whisk the cranberry sauce until smooth before folding in the cream. Lumps of jellied sauce won’t disappear once the cream goes in
- A little almond extract goes a long way. Stick to the teaspoon called for, as too much will overpower the cranberry
- For a more rustic look, don’t fold the cream in completely. Leave streaks of pink and white for a marbled effect in the glasses
