When you want something sweet, warm, and comforting but don’t want to heat up the whole kitchen, these microwave citrus dumplings are your answer.

A quick sauce of orange juice, mandarin segments, and cinnamon thickens into a glossy citrus base, and then fluffy Bisquick dumplings get dropped right on top to steam until they’re pillowy and set.

A final sprinkle of cinnamon sugar on top seals the deal.

This recipe makes just two servings, so it’s ideal for a quiet weeknight treat or a cozy dessert for two.

Kitchen Tips

  • Stir the orange juice mixture every 30 seconds while it thickens. Microwave hot spots can cause uneven cooking.
  • Don’t overmix the dumpling batter. A few lumps are fine and keep the dumplings light.
  • Let it rest for a minute after cooking. The dumplings firm up slightly and the sauce settles.
