After-dinner drinks don’t get easier or more satisfying than this.

Pour hot coffee into a mug, add a generous splash of creme de cacao, and drop a scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream right on top.

The ice cream slowly melts into the coffee, turning it creamy and minty while the chocolate liqueur ties the whole thing together into something that’s part dessert, part cocktail, all magic.

It takes about 60 seconds to make and tastes like you spent ten minutes at an espresso bar.

Variations

  • Iced version: Use cold brew instead of hot coffee and serve in a tall glass for a summer afternoon treat.
  • Mocha mint: Stir a tablespoon of chocolate syrup into the hot coffee before adding the liqueur for an extra-rich chocolate layer.
  • Virgin float: Skip the creme de cacao and use a splash of chocolate syrup plus a drop of peppermint extract for a family-friendly version.
