This recipe is for using the Nordic Ware Microwave Tender Cooker which is a pressure cooker that is used in your microwave oven.
Clean chicken.
Prepare stuffing mix following the package directions.
Stuff the chicken, secure then wings and legs to chicken body with string.
Combine browning sauce, water and bouillon.
Place chicken in Tender Cooker, pour water mixture over chicken, sprinkle with paprika.
If breast bone is near the top of the cooker, cover with a narrow piece of foil.
Cover pot, add regulator and microwave on high for 25 minutes.
Let pressure drop, remove chicken and thicken gravy by mixing flour with a little water and microwaving on high for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring at least once.
Instant Pot Variation
Craving that same tender, stuffed chicken but with the hands-off ease of your Instant Pot? This adaptation keeps the flavors spot-on while slashing active time—ideal for “easy Instant Pot whole chicken with stuffing recipes” or “quick pressure cooker stuffed chicken dinners for families."
- Rinse and pat dry the chicken as in the original steps.
- Prepare the stuffing per package directions.
- Stuff the chicken cavity loosely, then truss the wings and legs with string.
- Mix the browning sauce, water, and bouillon in a bowl.
- Set your Instant Pot to Sauté mode on high. Pour in the water mixture and let it heat up for a minute.
- Place the stuffed chicken breast-side up in the pot (use a trivet if you have one to keep it elevated slightly). Sprinkle with paprika.
- Cancel Sauté, secure the lid, and set to Manual/Pressure Cook on high for 15 minutes (about 6 minutes per pound for a 2.5 lb bird).
- Allow natural pressure release for 10-15 minutes, then quick-release any remaining steam. Remove the chicken carefully.
- For gravy, switch back to Sauté. Whisk flour with a bit of water into a slurry, stir into the pot juices, and simmer for 3-4 minutes until thickened, stirring occasionally.
