Need a knockout dessert in 15 minutes flat with absolutely no baking involved? This is it.

Start with a store-bought angel food cake, slice it into layers, and sandwich them with drained cherry pie filling.

Toss the cherries with a whisper of almond extract, spoon them across the top, and surround the whole thing with a crown of white and dark chocolate curls.

It looks like you spent hours. Nobody needs to know you didn’t.

Kitchen Tips

  • Drain the cherry pie filling well. Excess liquid will make the angel food cake soggy instead of tender.
  • A vegetable peeler run along the edge of a chocolate bar makes quick, gorgeous curls.
  • Leave a one-inch border around the top when spooning on the cherries so the presentation stays clean.
  • Chill for up to an hour before serving. The flavors meld and the cake firms up just enough for clean slices.
