| 3/4 | pound | ground turkey | raw |
| 1 | each | onion | chopped |
| 2 | cups | red kidney beans, canned | can, undrained |
| 6 | ounces | tomato paste | |
| 1/4 | cup | water | |
| 2 | teaspoons | chili powder | |
| 1 | each | garlic clove | minced, optional |
| 1 | each | oregano | optional |
| 1 | x | salt and black pepper | to taste |
| 1 | x | cumin seeds | to taste, optional |
| 1 | each | green bell pepper | chopped |
Defrost ground turkey, if frozen.
Spray a large non-stick skillet with cooking spray for no-fat frying.
Spread the turkey meat in a shallow layer.
Brown the meat over moderate heat; break into chunks and turn to brown evenly.
Stir in remaining ingredients. Cover and simmer 45 minutes.
Uncover and continue to simmer until thick.
