20 minLittle bakers, assemble! These cat-face cookies are the kind of project that turns a rainy afternoon into a full-blown kitchen party.
You start with store-bought refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough, so the hard part is already done. Slice, arrange, and let the kids go wild pressing pecan halves on for ears, colorful M&Ms for eyes and a nose, and snapped pretzel sticks for whiskers.
Every cookie comes out looking a little different, which is half the charm. Some will be goofy. Some will be lopsided. All of them will be gobbled up before they cool.
These are a hit at birthday parties, school bake sales, and Halloween cookie trays. Twenty minutes from freezer to finished.
Kitchen Tips
- Freeze the dough for at least an hour so it slices cleanly without squishing.
- Press the decorations in firmly before baking so they stick as the cookies spread.
- Space cookies 3 inches apart on the sheet. They spread more than you’d expect.
