Ingredients

1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup onion chopped
1/2 cup cabbage chopped
1 cup rice regular, raw
15 ounce tomato sauce
6 ounce tomatoe paste or 1 lb tomato puree
2 cups water
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon thyme
1 each bay leaf
2 tablespoons brown sugar

Directions

Brown ground beef in electric skillet. Stir to break up. Add onion, green pepper, cabbage and rice.

Stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste or puree, water and seasonings. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat.

Cover and simmer for 25 minutes until rice is tender, stirring occasionally and adding more water if necessary.
