20 minIf you’ve ever been to a Kentucky Derby party or a Southern holiday gathering, you’ve seen a platter of these disappear in minutes.
Bourbon balls are the no-bake cookie that packs a punch: crushed vanilla wafers, cocoa, and chopped nuts bound together with corn syrup and a generous pour of bourbon, then rolled in powdered sugar.
No oven required. No fuss. Just sticky fingers and big smiles.
They actually get better after a day or two in the fridge, so make them ahead and let the flavors meld.
Chef Tips
- Use a food processor for the vanilla wafers to get an even, fine crumb
- Chill the mixture for 15 minutes if it’s too sticky to roll
- Pecans are the classic nut choice, but walnuts work in a pinch
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks

Directions

Add and mix sugar, cocoa and nuts.
Add Karo and the Whiskey.
